Tip #172 - Fraud prevention
One of the things that people worry most about with pay per click advertising is that they will be charged for fraudulent clicks – whether these clicks are from competitors trying to wipe out their budget or just people clicking over and over again. A great short article at http://www.search-marketing.info/search-engines/priceper-click/fraud-tools.htm recommends looking for the following things to catch PPC fraud: • Repeat clicks from a specific IP address. • Spikes in search frequency at a give time. • Abnormally high search frequency for an expensive word. Now, before you start panicking, all of the pay per click operators have fraud checks in place, so you should be fine if you do the above checks regularly. |
